Harold E. Van Wart, Ph.D.

Dr. Van Wart currently serves as Metabolex, Inc.'s Chief
Executive Officer, a member of the Board of Directors since
January 2003, and President since April 2001. He served as chief
operating officer from December 2002 to January 2003 and senior
vice president, research and development from October 2000 to
December 2002. From 1999 to 2000, Dr. Van Wart was vice
president and therapy head for arthritis and fibrotic diseases
at Roche Biosciences, a biopharmaceutical company. From 1992 to
1999, he was vice president and director of the institute of
biochemistry and cell biology at Syntex Corporation, a
biopharmaceutical company acquired by Roche Biosciences in 1994.
From 1978 to 1992, Dr. Van Wart served on the faculty of Florida
State University. Dr. Van Wart obtained his Ph.D. from Cornell
University. He currently serves on the Emerging Companies
and Health Section Governing Boards of the Biotechnology
Industry Organization, as well as on its Board of Directors. He
is also a Director of Conatus Pharmaceuticals, Inc.

Bonnie A. Charpentier, Ph.D.

| Bonnie A. Charpentier, Ph.D. joined Metabolex in 2007 as Vice President of Regulatory Affairs. She previously was Vice President of Regulatory and Quality at Genitope Corp. from 2001 to 2006. From 1995 to 2001, Dr. Charpentier held regulatory positions at Roche Global Development, a division of F. Hoffman-La Roche Ltd., including serving as vice president and regulatory site head in Palo Alto, CA. From 1991 to 1995 she held regulatory positions of increasing responsibility at Syntex Corporation. Dr. Charpentier obtained her Ph.D. in Biology from the University of Houston. She currently serves on the Board of Directors of the American Chemical Society.

Donald M. Hill, CFA

| Donald M. Hill joined Metabolex in April 2008 as Chief Financial Officer. He brings extensive financial and strategic planning experience, including expertise in business development, treasury management, and controllership of large operating divisions. Prior to Metabolex, Mr. Hill held finance and corporate development management roles of increasing responsibility at Merck & Co., Inc. for over 20 years, most recently as Assistant Treasurer, Global Capital Markets. He is a Chartered Financial Analyst, and holds a B.A. from the University of California, Berkeley and a Masters degree from the Sloan School of Management at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology.

David B. Karpf, M.D.

| Dr. Karpf joined Metabolex in 2004 as Chief Medical Officer and Vice President, Clinical and Regulatory Affairs. He previously was at Geron
Corporation, where he served as executive medical director,
clinical and regulatory affairs from 2001. Prior to Geron, Dr. Karpf was vice president, clinical and regulatory affairs at Calydon, Inc. and executive director of clinical research at Roche Global Development in Palo Alto. From 1991 to 1996, Dr. Karpf was director of clinical research at Merck Research Laboratories in Rahway, New Jersey. Dr. Karpf is currently a clinical associate professor with the Stanford University School of Medicine. He received his M.D. degree from University of California, San Diego.

Charles A. McWherter, Ph.D.
Senior Vice President, Research and Preclinical Development |

Charles McWherter joined Metabolex as Senior Vice President, Research and Preclinical Development in 2007. He served as vice president and leader of Pfizer' cardiovascular therapeutics areas from 2003 to 2007 and vice president of drug discovery at Sugen from 2001 to 2003. Dr. McWherter formerly served as Adjunct Assistant Professor of Molecular Biology and Pharmacology at the Washington University School of Medicine in St. Louis and as Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Greater St. Louis Division of the American Heart Association. Dr. McWherter obtained his Ph.D. from Cornell University.

Patrick J. O’Mara
Vice President, Business Development |

| Mr. O’Mara joined
Metabolex in 1991 and has served the company in a variety of
operational and business development positions. He became Vice
President for Business Development in August 2006. Before
joining Metabolex, Mr. O’Mara worked at Thymax Corporation and Thomas Research Corp. Mr. O’Mara received a B.A. in Biochemistry from the University of California, Berkeley.

Diana M. Petty
Vice President, Human Resources and Administration |

Ms. Petty joined Metabolex as Vice President of Human Resources and Administration in 2006. Prior to Metabolex, Ms. Petty worked as a human resources consultant to various companies including Metabolex. Earlier in her career, she held leadership positions at 3M and SmithKline Corporation. Ms. Petty received a B.S. in Business Administration from the University of Redlands.

Paul T. Quinlan

| Mr. Quinlan joined Metabolex in 2005 as General Counsel. Prior to joining Metabolex he was Chief Corporate Securities Counsel at the biotechnology company Maxygen, Inc. Mr. Quinlan held various legal positions with Maxygen from 2000 to 2005. Prior to joining Maxygen, Mr. Quinlan was an associate at Cooley Godward LLP and Cravath Swaine & Moore LLP. He received a law degree from Columbia University School of Law and an M.Sc. in Medical Biophysics from the University of Toronto.
